Summer Vacation Destin, Florida

Last week Wednesday our new car was having battery problems. Well it turns out it needed a bunch of repairs. We had hoped to leave at 7 am on Friday to start our drive but we didn't get the car back until 1:30. We only made it to Cave City, Kentucky for our first night. We could not find a vacant hotel. (Felt like Joseph and Mary, but at least I wasn't pregnant.). We stayed in a yucky Red Roof Inn and got back on the road by 7 am the next morning. It was all worth it! Here are the pics in no particular order.

Destin is on the Gulf of Mexico and has some of the whitest sand in the world.

Our condo was nothing fancy but we loved it!

We did lots and lots of body and boogie boarding!

Our first night we ate at Hog's Breath and I had the best rum drink and salad with grilled shrimp.

Our 2nd night we ate at Margaritaville and this was our view. I had another salad with fish on it.

We ate at home 2 nights but went to Kenny D's on our 3rd night. I honestly can't remember what I had but I'm sure it was some kind of seafood! It's all I ate.

We got dressed up for our Holiday card photo. I won't share that one b/c it's a surprise. :-)

One afternoon it clouded up and rained a little so we went t-shirt shopping to the original Alvin's. Rich has been going to Destin since he was a kid, and it was the primary reason we went there. He wanted to show me and the kids his favorite beach. 

Silly kids put on their new sweatshirts the minute we got in the car. It was 90 degrees out. Crazy kids.

One morning this nice fisherman let Keira catch a fish.

We made some new friends from Alabama, and ended up going out to dinner with them and hanging on the beach for 2 days. It was so fun!

One morning we went for a walk on the beach in our pj's. No one was out and it was a slice of heaven.

I took this picture when we finally got to Destin and it was the first time the kids went in the water.

We ate at AJ's and afterwards there were fireworks.

No make-up and horrific hair, but oh so happy.

Our last night we ate at Back Porch. I absolutely loved it.

 It was such a fantastic family vacation and we will treasure the memories for years.
